World Children's Day is celebrated in several countries each year. The date of November 20th was chosen by the United Nations Organization to mark this day specially dedicated to children's rights.
World Children's Day is reminiscent of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child on November 20, 1989. Most United Nations member states have ratified this convention, which states that every child is unique and which gives them rights.
The United Nations Organization would like for this day to be spent doing activities promoting the wellbeing of children worldwide. It is also an opportunity to share children's rights and to make the crucial contribution of adults to ensure these rights are respected.
