Educational home childcare meets the needs of parents who wish to offer their child an environment:
- that is friendly, stable and comfortable;
- that is composed of children of different ages, like a family;
- that reminds children of their own home, with the reassurance that entails.
As a home childcare provider, you play a leading role with children. You are responsible for applying an educational program that supports the children's overall development and their adjustment to community living. In addition, your services must create an environment favourable to the development of healthy lifestyles, healthy food habits and behaviours that beneficially influence health and well-being.
As a home childcare provider, you must undertake to the children's parents that you accept to receive the children and provide them with home childcare services in accordance with the legislation. You manage your business to ensure their health, safety and well-being.
As a self-employed worker, you have the responsibility for ensuring the health, safety and well-being of the children, putting an educational program into practice, and providing the Coordinating Office with all the documents required by the Regulation, particularly concerning the payment of your subsidy. You are the first person responsible for your childcare service and you must ensure its quality and development.
The Home Childcare Coordinating Offices were created to offer you all the support you need. Obtaining recognition by a Coordinating Office is a choice, and it results in certain duties. Your childcare service is then governed by the Educational Childcare Act and its regulations and by the Act respecting the representation of certain home childcare providers and the negotiation process for their group agreements.
