In home childcare, the Educational Childcare Act (ECA) entrusts the Home Childcare Coordinating Offices (CO) with the application of the standard that must be respected by home childcare providers (HCP).
Thus, every year, the Coordinating Office has the obligation to conduct three unannounced visits to the residence, to ensure compliance with the ECA and its regulations. The Coordinating Office must ensure it covers all the standards applicable to the HCPs during the three annual visits. If the Coordinating Office finds any contraventions, it gives the HCP written notice of the finding and requires that the situation be remedied promptly. The CO ensures follow-up when an HCP has been the subject of a non-compliance notice.
